How to Rest Well During the Holidays and Enjoy Your Time-Off

Easter is coming, with all those wonderful moments to live near the closest friends or family members, so, after long months at work, a well-deserved holiday is on its way.

You can already make plans and dream about a resting holiday that awaits but you should not forget about the past. Remember when you wanted to do so much during the holidays that there was no time left for you to rest properly? Well, keep this in mind and let’s see what you can do.

According to statistics, people are wasting around 30% of their time during holidays on things that don’t provide the so-much-needed rest. Only 13% of employees, according to statistics, are coming back to work feeling rested and with fresh energy.

Further, I will present to you the ways you can enjoy your free time during the holidays and how you can efficiently rest.

Forget about your work

To start your holiday properly, the first thing you should do is to forget about your responsibilities at work. According to statistics, around 40% of working people find it very difficult to forget about their work when they have free time.

So, first of all, do not answer calls, check business emails, scroll the company’s web page, or do anything that can remind you of your responsibilities at work. Otherwise, you risk burning out your regeneration process and as a consequence, lose your chance to renew your forces and refresh your mind.

You can notify your colleagues from work, or your business associates about your total absence from work, and appoint a person that can substitute you in any case or set a single channel you can be reached only in case of emergencies.

Tip: Try to complete all your professional tasks and matters before the holiday starts, so the awareness of impending work won’t disturb your rest.

Listen to yourself

Don’t plan your holiday in detail, because you risk feeling like you are completing tasks for your work. You should make a list of activities you want to do that will make you feel relaxed and enjoy your free time. At the same time, you should not overload the list, so you’ll always have windows that will allow you to do something unexpected, something unforeseeable, in the spur of the moment.

Try to listen to your body, to your heart and soul, so you will know what you truly need: a good book, a hot shower, a tet-a-tet with a close friend, maybe something exotic for dinner. The wishlist is open… Use your imagination!

Tip: Take it easy, combine your task-oriented time with lazing around time,  listen to your inner voice, and let yourself enjoy your holiday.

Sleep well

Go for walks, fill your lungs with fresh air and let your mind refresh, this will help you to feel healthier and sleep tight. Also, you can turn off your alarm clock, but this does not mean you should sleep all day long every day. Once or twice it’s allowed 🙂

According to specialists, in terms of well-being, it’s ok if people wake up in the right sleep phase, that is after 7-8 hours of sleep. If during the workdays you probably skip this advice frequently, try, at least, during the holidays to respect it. Trust me, you will feel full of energy, regenerated and ready for action.

Tip: Respect your body’s ”need to sleep program” during the holidays, this will help you regenerate your forces and rest yourself properly.

Don’t let work stress stop you from enjoying your free time. Use the above tips to give yourself a well-deserved holiday!
